the TRAVEL list: kansas city

Growing up in Kansas City was a BLAST. Like I mentioned in the COFFEE list: kansas city, a lot has changed over the past few years. Now we can actually play baseball and the barbecue has ONLY gotten better. So, I put together another list. A list that doesn’t discriminate between the Kansas or Missouri side. If you find yourself in the middle of the U.S., check out my 10 favorite things to do. Once you do, you can officially rock one of the Baldwin KC hats.

  1. Joe’s Kansas City – Formerly known as Oklahoma Joes, this is where to get the BEST KC BBQ. Get the ribs, split the fries, and be prepared to stand in a long line. I guarantee, it’s MORE than worth it.
  2. West Bottoms – On the first Friday of every month, head to West Bottoms. Hit up the antique shops, explore some old factory buildings and if its October, hit up The Beast.FullSizeRender-1.jpg
  3. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art – Just a few blocks away from the Plaza, its KC’s best museum. Have a picnic on the lawn or attempt the glass maze. Either way, snap a photo of the giant shuttlecocks.
  4. The National World War I Museum and Memorial – Hands down, the best view in all of Kansas City. The museum also rocks and it’s where I take all my tourist friends.
  5. Crossroads – Spend your Saturday morning strolling through the Crossroads Arts District. Get a cup of coffee at Thou Mayest and hit up Josey Records right across the street.FullSizeRender-2.jpg
  6. The Country Club Plaza – A must-see during the holiday season and the perfect way to spend an afternoon. Shopping, street performers, and a ton of great food. You’ll see why some people call KC, the City of Fountains.
  7. Kauffman Stadium – Grab a soft pretzel and watch the Royals slide into home plate. If you want to feel like a local, this is where to go. The KC PRIDE is alive and well.IMG_2094
  8. The Midland – Hands down, the best concert venue in the city. It’s BEAUTIFUL. With amazing acoustics and killer tours coming through, it’s a MUST. Flume, Teagan and Sara, and James Bay, are all set to play this Fall.
  9. Schlitterbahn – Ride the TALLEST WATERSLIDE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. Float to different rides. Enjoy the Hot Tub Bar.
  10. Theatre in the Park – Probably my favorite place in the entire world. Where dreams are born on summer nights. While you won’t see me on the Corny Collins Show again, you will see some of the best community theatre in the country.1079100_575850329123656_301402813_o
