the TRAVEL list: los angeles

TRUE LIFE: I’ve been waiting to drop this list for a while. I started off 2016 interning in the City of Angels. Living solo in a new city was quite the adventure. I would work crazy hours M-F. Yet, when the weekend rolled around, I was out exploring the city. 3 months of interning and two more trips back to LA since then, I’ve finally finished this list. A list of my favorite places/things to do in one of my favorite cities.

Alfred Coffee // All of my favorite coffee spots made the COFFEE list: los angeles, yet the ultimate coffee gem is Alfred Coffee. Any of their locations are stellar, although their Melrose location in West Hollywood is my current favorite. Their coffee is smoothly crafted and never bitter.

SUGARFISH by sushi nozawa // LA locals take SO much pride in their sushi. Whether its Katsuya, Nobu or SUGARFISH, you really can’t go wrong. If you aren’t wanting to spend an arm and leg, head to SUGARFISH. The “Trust Me” is the way to go, just trust me on this one 😆

Tap it BACK at SoulCycle Hollywood // I got hooked on the SoulCycle bug right here. All of the Hollywood instructors are INSANE and you’ll be drenched in sweat after every class. PLUS everyone is so nice and you’ll almost always may make a friend or two.

Brunch at the Chateau Marmont // Is it haunted? I’d believe it. Either way, this historic Los Angeles hotel is one you’ve gotta check out. Tucked away at the base of the Hollywood Hills in West Hollywood, the Chateau takes you to another world. It’s a serene oasis in the middle of the LA hustle. Make your reservations for brunch and order their life changing french toast.

the ADIDAS store on MELROSE // Just a few steps away from that pink wall is the ADIDAS store. Limited editions of your favorite sneakers – my friend Molly scored some KILLER Stan Smith’s here – and running pants on running pants.

Being in a STUDIO audience // Grab tickets to a talk show taping if you can! Find your favorite show and do some research to score free tickets, which is normally pretty easy if you do this in advance. You’ll get to walk around one of the studio lots and see how it all works behind the scenes.

Take a STROLL on ABBOTT KINNEY // My favorite place in ALL of LA. Venice Beach is alright, but about half a mile inland is this WONDERFUL street. Lined with palm trees and filled with some of the coolest stores. From STAG to Marine Layer to Rag & Bone to Intelligentsia to the Butcher’s Daughter, what’s not to love?

Hike it UP at Griffith Park // Wake up EARLY (like 5am) and head to Griffith Park to see the sunrise over the Hollywood Sign or the Griffith Observatory. Worth the early morning alarms and the views are breathtaking. Bring your water bottle and your camera.

Unwind at Manhattan Beach // When you need a break from the LA hustle, head south of LAX to Manhattan Beach. Stroll along the beach and grab some tacos at Wahoo’s. If you want something a little more local, head to Hermosa Beach (just a few minutes south) for some drinks on the pier.

El Matador State Beach in Malibu // While LA is a blast, Malibu takes the prize for my favorite place in all of Southern California. From the incredible views to the canyon driving, Malibu is where to be. The perfect city getaway and El Matador State Beach is where to watch that sunset.

***If you’re headed to LA, send me a MESSAGE! I’ve got SO many more travel finds that I’m always down to share 😀
