the TRAVEL list: dallas

It’s ALMOST Thanksgiving and I’M PUMPED to head back to Dallas for the long weekend.  I’ve already put together a restaurant list for Dallas. BUT it isn’t always just about the food. or about the coffee. SO WHAT WILL I find myself doing over the weekend?! Find out in my ultimate list of things to do in The Big D…

Stroll the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge // Pictured above, it’s the ultimate Dallas bridge. Check out that skyline, grab some food at Trinity Groves , and watch the street performers make the bridge come to life.

Explore Klyde Warren Park // Dallas doesn’t really do winter and it’s always nice to explore this downtown oasis. This over-the-highway park is FOOD TRUCK HEAVEN. Plus you are steps away from The Winspear Opera House and the Nasher Sculpture Center. If the AT&T Broadway series is in town, make sure to grab tickets. Students get tickets for $20.

Margaritas and Queso at Blue Goose, Meso Maya, and/or Banditos // Tex-Mex is a lifestyle. And I MISS IT ALL THE TIME. You BET I’ll be stopping at one of these for some enchiladas with my college friends. Always ask for a side of tortillas at Blue Goose. ALWAYS.

Shop it out at Northpark // I still can’t find a better place to clear your head. I camped out here for 12 hours for the iPhone 6 my junior year, UPTOWN POPCORN is LIT, and the people watching is clutch. Part Museum. Part Mall. 100% Dallas.

Catch up at Houndstooth Coffee // Well DUH I’ll be swinging by Houndstooth. I’d feel guilty if I didn’t. If Dallas is on your RADAR, you’ve got to head here too. Order that coffee “for here” and get to organizing your week ahead.

Jog down the Katy Trail // From Highland Park to Downtown, you can take this 3-mile trail straight through the heart of Dallas. Watering holes all along the way. Tree-lined from start to finish, featuring some bamboo trees, and Turtle Creek bike paths.

Chill at the NYLO Rooftop // Located right by South Side on Lamar, you’ll find the NYLO hotel. Head up to the 15th floor for the best rooftop in all of Dallas. Jump in the pool if you feel like it and order yourself some appetizers. Re-charge. Take that Instagram. Laugh with good friends.

SING along at the House of Blues // Hands down one of the best venues in all of Dallas. Intimate. Personable. and Incredible Acoustics. Shoutout to the nice staff who would always let me slide in early to put up posters back in my music industry days. And tickets are normally $30 or less. BLESS. Throwback to when Tove Lo tickets were $3. Those were the days man.

Eat all of the Sprinkles Ice Cream // It wouldn’t be Highland Park without True Food Kitchen, the Mint or Sprinkles Ice Cream. A 24/7 Cupcake ATM is cool and all, BUT the ice cream next door is 100000x better. Order the triple chocolate or captain crunch with gummy bears. Red velvet waffle cone too.

Hit The Boulevard at SMU // The happiest place on earth. The wildest, most stylish tailgate you’ll ever see. Brunch. Boulevard. In-N-Out. Repeat. Never a tailgate, always a boulevard. God, I miss college.
