As it gets warmer in this New York state of mind, the MUSIC just keeps getting better.
River by Leon Bridges // The moment I heard this song in Big Little Lies, I was instantly hooked. It’s not a brand new song, yet sometimes the best songs for the moment aren’t topping the iTunes charts. Music never loses its soul.
Stay (feat. Alessia Cara) by Zedd // At times, Zedd falls into that EDM-pop trap. However, this track builds, climbs, and explodes. Summer music festival ready. Basically, summer anything ready.
Dog Years by Maggie Rogers // “We will be alright, in the afterlife.”
Selfish (feat. Rihanna) by Future // He can drop two albums back-to-back and it’s no lie that Future is the man of the hour right now. I’m playing this song EVERYDAY – no pun intended. Thank Yeezus for introducing the world to smart auto-tuning.
Quiet by MILCK // Sue me, but I totally judged a song by its album cover and immediately pressed play when I saw this single. It’s feels like a 2009 Starbucks coffee shop playlist given a 2017 upgrade.
Liability by Lorde // When Lorde dropped “Green Light” I spammed all my friends with Snapchat videos of me playing the song during all aspects of life. “Liability” changes the pace as a raw ballad. Full of truth, it’s Bowie-esque and the excitement for Melodrama only keeps growing.
Shot Down by Khalid // His debut album made the TREND list and this American Teen will have you jamming along during that 9-5 (or 10-6 in my case). If you just listen to one song on this list, press play on this one.
Bad Blood by NAO // You are welcome. Headphones required. No bad computer speakers allowed.
Love by Lana Del Rey // With a cosmic music video, fueled by that exoplanet discovery from NASA, LDR is officially back. Find that convertible. Find your American flag. Break out that Born To Die LP.
September Song by Agnes Obel // Also from that show in Monterey 😉, who needs lyrics when the orchestration is up there with the UP and Black Swan soundtracks.
